When a managed worktree's folder is deleted by hand (a user in a file
manager, an agent's rm -rf), git keeps its record and lists it as
prunable. Codeman then had no way out: the dialog showed the row as
"missing" with no action, DELETE answered "No worktree named ...", and
the name could never be used again (the branch still existed, and with
another branch git refused "a missing but already registered
worktree"). Reproduced on git 2.43; git's own `git worktree remove` on
the missing path drops the record with exit 0.
Removal (only removal, never a session start) now accepts a worktree
whose folder is gone when git lists it at exactly the managed path, as
prunable or locked, and no component on the way is a symlink or a file.
The live-session and lock refusals still apply. The dialog offers
Remove... (not Open) on such a row, with a note saying what it does.

Documents the worktree endpoints and quick-start's worktree field in
docs/api-reference.md, adds a Git Worktrees page to the wiki (sidebar,
Home index, a pointer from Core Concepts where sessions sharing one
case folder is explained), and records the rules that keep the feature
safe in docs/architecture-invariants.md with a short CLAUDE.md pointer:
only the managed .claude/worktrees path is ever touched, git never runs
over a Docker workspace, removal is never forced and branch delete is
-d only, and sessions start through the existing create paths.

#604 makes `~/` links clickable and passes them through unchanged, since only
the server knows the session host's home. The html-view mint read `~/x.html`
as workspace-relative and answered 404, so the preview fell back to the
source view. It now expands `~/` against this host's home, as the attachment
route does, and refuses it in a Docker case (that `~` is the container's)
with the same message as the attachment and folder routes.

Conflicts resolved against #604, #606 and #601:
- constants.js: the rooted link pattern takes html-md's `markdown` and
`html?` with #606's m4v/ogv; #604's relative pattern gets the same list
(link-provider-regex pins the two equal); #604's findFilePathLinks /
folder helpers and html-md's rendersAsPage() are both kept, and
window.CodemanFilePaths exports all of them.
- terminal-ui.js: #604's resolved `target` (relative, ~/ and folder links)
now also goes through rendersAsPage(), so every link kind routes .html to
the page preview; .md routes there through FILE_PREVIEW_EXTENSIONS.
- CLAUDE.md, api-reference, architecture-invariants: both sides' text kept.
- test/folder-grid-ui.test.ts (#604) stubs rendersAsPage() like the other
panels-ui harnesses.

Conflicts resolved against #605 (and #602's test mock):
- CLAUDE.md Prompt uploads: #606's rewrite is kept and #605's bounded
workspace probe sentence follows the remote (SSH) refusal.
- test/routes/session-routes.test.ts: the remote-pane-history and
bounded-path-probe mocks are kept beside #606's _resetPasteRateBuckets
import, and both PRs' paste-image tests are kept.

Conflict resolved in docs/api-reference.md: #607's prompt cache section and
#528's tabGroupId section are both kept.

A remote session's local pane hosts the remote tmux client in the alternate
screen, so its history_size is always 0. #583 read that as "nothing to load"
and hid the partial-history notice, but with #602 a full=1 load reads the real
scrollback from the remote tmux. The route now leaves the field out for remote
sessions, so their notice keeps the byte-based wording and its Load full
history button.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Conflicts resolved against #583 and #588:
- One history-depth field: #583's `historyLines` / `capturedHistoryLines`
(reported as `paneHistoryLines`) is kept, and #601's lines cut now reads it
instead of a second `capturedHistorySize`. #601's `alternateOn` /
`capturedAlternateOn` joins it, and the one display-message format string
ends `#{history_size} #{alternate_on}`.
- selectSession keeps #588's full=1 switch for panes with no scrollback, gated
off remote and Docker sessions, and #601's SHELL_LOAD_QUERY for shells.
- computeHistoryTruncationNotice names a line count when paneHistoryLines is
known (#583) and otherwise uses #601's remainder wording.
- docs: api-reference lists both historyLinesCut and paneHistoryLines; the
notice invariant keys on history_size while the shell's automatic load is
the one place alternate_on decides.

Owner decision 2026-10-13 (#547): a rendered .html page behaves like a
file opened from disk in a browser. It may load scripts, styles, fonts,
images and media from any host and make fetch, XHR, WebSocket, beacon
and form requests to any host.
The /html-view Content-Security-Policy is therefore the `sandbox`
directive alone (HTML_VIEW_CSP, now exported and documented): the same
sandbox flags as before, never `allow-same-origin`, and no fetch
directive. It replaces Codeman's own `default-src 'self'` policy on these
responses. Everything that confines a page stays: the opaque origin (no
Codeman cookies or document, API writes with `Origin: null` refused, API
reads not readable cross-origin), and the capability serving only the
page's own folder under every path, symlink, dot, extension and
confinement rule.
A new test builds the route behind registerSecurityHeaders, as in
production, and pins the exact header: one `sandbox` directive with the
current flags, no `allow-same-origin`, no `-src` directive. The security
architecture, architecture invariants, API reference, CLAUDE.md and the
Working With Files wiki page now say what a page can do (reach the
network, read its own folder) and cannot do (Codeman's origin, cookies,
API, other folders), and that this is the owner's decision.

Adds GET /html-view/:cap/* to the list of endpoints exempt from the JSON
envelope, and a "Rendered HTML files" section covering the mint
(POST /api/v1/sessions/:id/html-view: body, response, capability
lifetime, every refusal and its status) and the capability-gated serving
route (what it serves, the sandbox CSP and other headers, Range, the
preflight answer, and the plain-text 404 / auth 401 refusals).

Agents pick tools from MCP clients and registries, and Codeman had no MCP
surface: an assistant in Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex or Gemini CLI could
not start or drive Codeman sessions without hand-written HTTP calls.
`codeman mcp` is a stdio MCP server and a CLIENT of the existing HTTP API
(it reuses codeman agent's transport and guards; no new route). Seven
tools: list_sessions, start_session, send_prompt, wait_for_session,
read_output, interrupt_session, delete_session.
- Dual-era: answers the legacy initialize handshake (2024-11-05 to
2025-11-25) and the 2026-07-28 revision (per-request _meta,
server/discover, resultType, and the ttlMs/cacheScope hints a modern
tools/list must carry: Claude Code 2.1.296 drops every tool without
them).
- Never guesses a server: the URL comes from --url or CODEMAN_API_URL.
Unconfigured, it still lists its tools and every call says how to
configure it.
- Prompting, interrupting and deleting are limited to sessions the process
started (or, inside a Codeman pane, that session's own workers) unless
--allow-any-session; never its own session. Control bytes are refused
before any request.
- Waits default to 45 s (Codex's MCP tool timeout is 60 s), max 600 s.
- read_output returns text only: a client that prefers structuredContent
otherwise showed the model metadata instead of the output.
- config/mcp-registry/server.json and package.json mcpName prepare the
official MCP registry listing; sync-plugin.mjs keeps its version.

The agent skill only reached Claude Code: injection wrote
.claude/skills/codeman, which no other CLI reads, and the per-session
preamble was seeded for claude alone. A Codex, Gemini, OpenCode,
Antigravity, Grok, DeepSeek or OMP session inside Codeman never learned it
could start and drive workers.
- Registry field capabilities.agentSkillDir (a closed enum, since
clis.json can set it and it decides where the server writes) names the
skills directory each CLI scans. Claude keeps .claude/skills; those seven
CLIs get the same skill in <case>/.agents/skills/codeman (each measured to
scan it; Claude Code does not, so it never sees two copies). pi gets none:
a project skill makes pi ask "Trust project folder?" at startup.
- The preamble is seeded for every local session whose CLI takes the
skill; nothing in it is claude-specific.
- The skill text is CLI-neutral and names the two CLI-side failures to
report instead of retrying: a sandbox that blocks loopback (Codex's
default), and commands that do not carry this session's environment
(Codex 0.162 runs them in a shared app-server daemon).
- POST /api/sessions injects after the launch pre-flight, so a CLI that
cannot start leaves nothing in the workspace.
- codeman skill install gains --mode; uninstall --case removes the copy
from every directory the registry can write.
- The settings toggle moves to Agents & CLIs > All agent CLIs.

Claude Code's tracker nulls recache_tokens_if_cold at a compaction or a tool-result clearing and only counts the expected rebuild at the next request, which also closes the window, so no report carried both and the old rule never fired. Stamp on the first warm null report after one that carried a value, carry it through idle re-reports and drop it at the next request; the readout now says "Context compacted at HH:MM" since a clearing opens the same window.
Also persist a changed report so a crash restores the latest one, rename the session field to statusLineExporter (statusLineTelemetry is the registry capability) and document its values, word the stake as re-cached, move the readout block above the SSE staleness heading, and drop keep-warm mentions until it lands.
Review follow-ups for loading a shell from tmux's rendered history.
tmux adds no history while a pane is in the alternate screen, and a
nested tmux client (remote SSH and Docker cases, or tmux run by hand)
holds its pane there, so a full capture of it is one screen. The
display-message query that reads #{history_size} now also reads
#{alternate_on} (PaneCaptureOptions.capturedAlternateOn), and a request
carrying `alt=recording` (only SHELL_LOAD_QUERY sends it) is answered
the old way on such a pane: the visible frame over the tailed byte
recording. Agents, scroll pulls and Load full history are unchanged.
alternate_on cannot tell a nested tmux from vim or less, so a local
shell with one of those open takes the same fallback while it is open.
A full capture without `lines=` was reported as a 'tail' cut whenever
the pane held more than the configured ceiling (possible on tmux before
3.7), offering a Load full history that could never return more. The
cut is now reported only for a client bound below the ceiling.
The response carries `historyLinesCut` when that bound left lines in
tmux, and the banner then says earlier output may be retained instead
of naming the bytes a later tail cut, which undercount what tmux holds.
A bounded grid tile's shell load sends its own `lines=` (via
SHELL_LOAD_BASE_QUERY). CLAUDE.md, docs/architecture-invariants.md and
docs/api-reference.md describe the shell load, the cut report and the
fallback.

One conflict, in i18n.js SKIP_SELECTOR: master added '.tab-name' itself
(the same fix this branch made for zh-CN tab names), so master's line is
kept and this branch's duplicate comment dropped.

A shell's automatic loads (tab select, dropped-output recovery, clear
terminal, a split/grid tile's load) replayed `session.terminalBuffer`,
the raw PTY recording, ahead of the visible frame. That recording holds
full-screen repaints (an ssh'd tmux, less, any TUI: cursor home, then the
rows joined by newlines, prompt on the last row) drawn for the pane
height of the moment. Replayed into a terminal with fewer rows, each
repaint's last newline scrolls and pushes its top row into scrollback,
so one line tmux holds once shows up dozens of times (26 copies in the
case that found this, after the pane went from 24 to 23 rows). Remote
SSH shell sessions hit it constantly: their inner tmux repaints often.
Shells now load a bounded window of tmux's rendered history instead
(`SHELL_LOAD_QUERY`: full=1&tail=1MiB&lines=10000), the same source the
scroll-to-top pull already used. `lines=10000` bounds the synchronous
capture-pane, measured at ~8 ms per 1000 lines (~0.1 s here vs ~0.8 s
for a 100k-line history). Because that bound is shallower than xterm's
scrollback, the server now reports a cut: the capture's existing
display-message query also reads `#{history_size}`
(`PaneCaptureOptions.capturedHistorySize`), and the route marks a full
capture `truncated` / 'tail' when tmux holds more than it read, so the
banner keeps offering Load full history and scroll-to-top keeps pulling
older lines. The byte cap still reports 'capped'. The banner no longer
names an amount it cannot know ("less than 1 KB more") for such a cut.
Agent sessions are unchanged.

A phone-only toolbar Attach button hands the agent a photo or a video with the
keyboard down. It owns its own file input, positioned over the button so iOS
anchors the picker popover to it; the picked paths land on the prompt as unsent
text, so Compose adopts them together with anything already typed and Use
terminal keyboard hands a single-line draft back the other way.
Videos take a second path on the same route: ?kind=video streams the file to
disk under MAX_PASTE_VIDEO_BYTES (1GB, env CODEMAN_MAX_PASTE_VIDEO_BYTES)
instead of buffering it, sniffs the container from the first bytes as they
arrive, drains a mislabeled body unwritten and unlinks on any failure. It draws
on its own 3/min per-(IP, session) rate bucket beside the image path's 30/min:
at 1GB each, 30/min would be 30GB of disk a minute. Without the flag the route
is byte-identical to the image-only version, same 50MB cap and same bucket.
One client classifier, _promptAttachKind (MIME first, then the name's
extension), drives every pick and paste surface: the Attach button, terminal
drop, the tile grid's drop, the Compose and paste-dialog pickers and the
clipboard handlers. A pick that lands while the tile grid owns the terminal
goes to the PTY rather than the parked main-terminal overlay.
Claude Code's statusline has carried a prompt_cache object since v2.1.251, and Codeman's statusline exporter already received it, but StatusTelemetrySchema stripped the whole object, so Codeman never knew whether a session's conversation was still cached. Keep it and show it.
StatusTelemetrySchema now lists every documented scalar field null-tolerant (several are documented as possibly null, and the object gains fields across CLI versions, so a strict shape would 400 the post and blank the footer), while parsePromptCache normalizes only the subset Codeman stores, so a hostile localhost payload cannot bloat state. Session.promptCache rides toState with a change-only session:promptCache event, and the route broadcasts the stored object.
The Session Options (Respawn tab) readout shows warm-until or cold with the re-read stake, the cache hit rate, the last miss's causes, and, for Claude Code's own idle compaction (recache_tokens_if_cold null while expected_rebuilds rose), a "compacted at HH:MM" note that is never raised as an alert. setPromptCache stamps that on a new object rather than mutating the parsed report, so the stamp reaches the broadcast. Sessions without a statusline of their own also get a cache:until HH:MM / cache:cold group in the terminal footer. The last report is restored on a Codeman restart (like displayModel) so the readout is not blank until the pane's next render; the readout is time-aware, so a value whose expiry has passed reads as cold, not stale-warm. A launch without the exporter records why (collection off, workspace statusline, remote) so the row says the cause instead of "not reported yet" forever.
This is the sensor a later opt-in keep-warm would read, and the TTL it reports is the source of truth rather than the plan tier.
The "Showing the most recent 1.0 MB of this session. 4.8 MB more may still
be retained." bar covered the top of the terminal on nearly every tab switch,
and for fullscreen claude panes it could never be acted on: `truncated`
measures the server's byte stream, while Load full history asks tmux, which
holds no scrollback for a pane that lives in the alternate screen.
- The capture reads `#{history_size}` in the cursor query it already makes
and the terminal route returns it as `paneHistoryLines`.
- A reported 0 hides the notice; a positive count replaces the byte gap in
the message.
- The notice is lazy: it appears once a wheel/touch gesture reaches the top
of the browser buffer (after the pull that gesture starts), leaves when
the user scrolls back to live output or switches tabs, and its dismissal
sticks per session until reload.
- formatHistoryBytes no longer prints "1024 KB" just under 1 MiB.

The route test cleared only the registry CLIs' relocation vars, so with
COPILOT_HOME exported it wrote its fixture into that real Copilot config.
It now clears the sync-only tools' vars too, and Copilot's install probe goes
through the test's own installed set instead of the machine's PATH.
Docs: CLAUDE.md, the API reference and the Settings reference name COPILOT_HOME
and the sync-only table; a missing comma in docs/cli-registry.md; the
mcp-sync.ts overview and the Sync confirm mention Copilot.

Conflict in docs/wiki/Settings-Reference.md resolved by keeping #565's Apply

missing from this list).

Conflicts resolved against the release branch: docs/api-reference.md keeps
both new sections (codeman agent CLI, then Prompt uploads);
test/test-ports-guard.test.ts takes the release side (#570 already removed
the legacy list); test/paste-image-dir-shared.test.ts keeps #570's ephemeral
port and this PR's bounded-path-probe mock.
Also at merge: the Docker sentence in the route comment and the API reference
is narrowed to owned cases, since an adopted container mounts nothing.

New sessions, spawned child sessions and saved web tabs now land in tab
groups instead of always starting in Ungrouped.
New session in a group:
- The group menu gains "New session" (first item). It expands a collapsed
group and runs ONE launch with the current case and run mode; a launch
already in flight is reported, not queued.
- run({ count, tabGroupId }) threads the group through every launch path
(local POST /api/sessions, remote/docker and external-CLI
/api/quick-start). The count overrides the steppers for that launch only.
- Server: POST /api/sessions and /api/quick-start accept an optional
tabGroupId (Zod, 1-100 chars; null/empty is a 400). The routes pass it to
addSession(), and TabLayoutService.sessionCreated() places the session at
the end of that group in the SAME versioned write that first records it.
The session is added to the live map inside the owner lock (with a
rollback when the write fails), so no queued layout edit can commit it
first. The group is looked up in the creating owner's own layout, so an
unknown, deleted or foreign id is ignored instead of failing the spawn. An
explicit group is a hand placement: a child placed this way is manual.
- The create response carries the committed tabLayout (only when tabGroupId
was sent), adopted before the new tab is drawn. Responses without the
field are unchanged.
Child sessions (parentSessionId / X-Codeman-Parent-Session):
- A child nobody placed follows its parent: the server's existing
normalization already puts it after the parent's rows; the browser now
draws a not-yet-stored child there too (project({ parents })) and, while
groups exist, adopts the server's order instead of echoing its own append
back through PUT /api/session-order (which pinned every child manual).
- The row menu says where a child sits (follows, placed by hand, parent
closed, parent loop) and offers "Follow parent again" only to a hand-placed
child. A child whose parent is gone stands on its own and is never
re-adopted.
Saved web tabs:
- Web tabs are layout refs like sessions; openness stays per device. A
grouped web tab shows (and takes an Alt+N slot) only while open here and
reopens where the layout keeps it. Pinned by tests; no behaviour change.
Unchanged: the flat rail and header strip (markup, HTML5 drag, append and
save on create), the tree semantics and single tab stop, sessionOrder and
Alt+N, and every request that does not send tabGroupId.
A pasted image landed in <workspace>/.claude-images/, a name that belongs to another tool, in a folder nothing ignored, so it showed up in git status of every case that ever received a paste. Uploads now go to a flat <workspace>/.codeman-uploads/ that carries a .gitignore of `*` (written once, never over a file already there): in the workspace because that is the only path identical for a local agent and a container, flat because a nested .codeman/ is the data dir itself when the workspace is the home directory.
The directory names live in paste-image-gc.ts alone. The old folder receives nothing but stays readable for one release: the hourly sweep and the delete cleanup go through uploadDirs(), the image watcher's ignore filter reads the names. uploadDirs() lists only real directories, none that is, contains or sits inside the data dir, and nothing for a remote session, since both consumers delete. The route refuses a remote (SSH) session before touching disk: the file would land on this host under the remote path, where the agent cannot read it.
test/paste-image-dir-shared.test.ts binds port 0 and leaves the port guard's legacy list.
Decided in #553.
From the review of #557:
- An id shorter than 8 characters refuses with exit 4 before any request,
on every verb. `rm 9` resolved to whichever session was alone with that
first character (the user's own tab included) and deleted it. Same floor
as the server's PARENT_SESSION_ID_MIN_PREFIX. `rm` no longer claims a
lineage check: "Delete any session except this one".
- `wait --match` help and the README example say the marker must not appear
verbatim in the prompt (its echo matches at once) and show the split form.
- `send` reads the route's wake-on-LAN answers: `buffered` gets its own
line (exit 0), `dropped` exits 1 instead of printing "accepted".
- `--` for a prompt that starts with "-", in the `send` description and in
the one-argument refusal.
- `stripAnsi` builds on the shared one (OSC sequences go too); the
inputRefusal JSDoc sits above inputRefusal again.
- docs/wiki/Driving-Codeman-From-An-Agent.md gets a `codeman agent` section.

The agent skill teaches the session verbs to claude only (Codeman seeds its
preamble for local claude sessions). An opencode, codex, pi or gemini agent has
the same environment — CODEMAN_MUX, CODEMAN_SESSION_ID and CODEMAN_API_URL are
exported into every pane — and nothing that teaches it the verbs, so
`codeman agent ls|spawn|send|wait|read|interrupt|rm` packages them as commands.
It is a client of the server, like `codeman tui`, and stays out of
`codeman session` (which drives the in-process SessionManager). No new route and
no second transport: everything goes through CODEMAN_API_URL, so auth,
ownership and the per-session waiter cap apply unchanged. Credentials and the
Basic header come from src/codeman-credentials.ts, in the same order attach and
the TUI use.
Invariants, each in test/cli-agent.test.ts:
- Refuses outside a Codeman session (CODEMAN_MUX=1 + CODEMAN_API_URL); never
guesses a URL.
- `send` takes the prompt as ONE argument (an unquoted multi-line `$(…)` would
otherwise be split by the shell and re-joined into one line), transmits
printable text plus Enter only, and refuses multi-line input loudly instead of
letting sendInput weld the lines. No resend loop of its own: the server's
SubmitVerifier owns the swallowed-Enter case. ESC exists only as `interrupt`,
which never appends Enter.
- `rm` fails closed: empty id, an unprovable self id, or a prefix match in
either direction refuses.
- Nothing mode-shaped in the CLI: the readiness mark `spawn` waits for comes
from the registry (new `capabilities.composerReadyMark`: claude's composer
hint `shift+tab`, deepseek's `❯`), `read` relies on the route's own answer
dispatch, and a `stop`/`blocked` the session cannot fire is the server's 400,
passed through. A `/wait` timeout is a 200 with `timedOut`: exit 2 with a
neutral line, not an error. A worker that dies during spawn's readiness wait
is exit 3, like every other wait.
- `X-Codeman-Agent-Origin` rides only spawn's quick-start, the one request that
may create a case directory; every other verb leaves it off. Server-side,
test/routes/agent-case-marker-routes.test.ts pins that a POST /api/sessions on
an existing workingDir is never labelled, header or not, and that quick-start
labels only a directory it creates.

Copilot CLI keeps its user MCP list in ~/.copilot/mcp-config.json (COPILOT_HOME moves it) but is
not a Codeman run mode, so it has no registry entry. Add the copilot-json dialect (mcpServers,
tools ["*"], type local/http/sse, checked against `copilot mcp add` 1.0.94) and declare Copilot as
a sync-only target in src/mcp-sync-targets.ts, listed after the registry CLIs. A server switched
off with `copilot mcp disable` is recorded in settings.json (disabledMcpServers), not on the
entry: sync reads that list so it is not copied, and reports the target unreadable if the file
is not valid JSON instead of guessing.
A lone repository git could not read rendered as a clean, empty one. The
panel took its single-repository view whenever the overview held one row,
and the error row only exists in the list view, so it showed "Nothing
uncommitted / No remote configured" with an empty header while the
indicator said "? 1". The single-repository view now needs a readable
repository and an untruncated overview; anything else takes the list view
(headed "1 repository"), and the tooltip names the unreadable repository
instead of saying "no branch".
The same condition covers a limit of 1 in a folder of several projects,
now that max repositories can go down to 1: the one row shown keeps the
"Showing the first" notice instead of looking like the only repository.
A repeated timeout query parameter reaches the route as an array, and
calling trim() on it answered 500 with an internal message, before the
ownership check. The route now treats a non-string timeout as "default",
like an empty or absent one, and the route test pins it.
The browser test gains the lone-unreadable-repository case (error row,
no "Nothing uncommitted", "? 1", tooltip names the repository) and the
truncated single-row case. Both fail against the unfixed panel.
The git timeout input steps by 1, not 5: the save accepts any whole
number of seconds and step 5 flagged values like 7 as invalid.
Docs: api-reference says repoLimit is only present in the
folder-of-projects case, the Settings Reference and Working With Files
glyph lists mention "? N", and the module header says the repository
count is the caller's maxRepos.
The PR's own changeset is removed; its text goes into the single
combined release changeset.

The tunnel Upload URL page (upload.html) has been broken since the response envelope landed in 458fb81c: it reads j.filename and j.files while the server answers { success, data: { filename } } and { success, data: { files } }, so every upload reported "Saved: undefined" and the recent list stayed empty. Nothing else reads ~/.codeman/screenshots/, and handing a file to an agent goes through POST /api/sessions/:id/paste-image into the session's own workspace, so the page, its Settings row, the suffix branch of the tunnel row helper (now folded into its one caller) and the Upload URL i18n key go.
The three /api/screenshots routes keep working unchanged and log one deprecation warning per process on first use, naming paste-image as the replacement. Per docs/versioning-policy.md they are removed in a later MAJOR, after at least one MINOR release that carries the warning; the docs, CLAUDE.md and the multi-user plan say so.
Static caching: with upload.html gone no HTML is served by @fastify/static any more (every page has its own no-cache route; on a built tree only the precompressed index.html.gz artifact is reachable, as application/gzip, and nothing requests it). The .html branch of setHeaders was therefore dead and goes with the test that fetched upload.html to reach it; a comment now says a new static HTML page needs its own route. The index.html no-cache assertion on the route stays.
- api-reference: the `config` source in the displayModel table, read again at
every pane start, attach and relaunch rather than restored.
- cli-registry: `modelDetect.configResolver` (a named, read-only, bounded
reader), the stock `deepseek-route` reader and its rules, and why the dsh
footer pattern needs a digit.
- deepseek-integration §4: Codeman reads the route for display only, the way
dsh-TUI resolves it; the catalog check it cannot see.
- architecture-invariants (tile grid), tile-grid-plan "as built" (owner
feedback 1), the wiki's model row, CLAUDE.md's source order.

- api-reference: the new `displayModel` session field, its sources in order
(custom-endpoint, statusline, screen, launch) and that it is untrusted
display text, persisted and restored when the CLI reported it.
- cli-registry: `capabilities.modelDetect` (one capture group, the last rows
of the probe's capture, anchored on chrome only that CLI draws), the two
stock patterns (dsh-TUI, codex) and the fifth config regex.
- architecture-invariants (tile grid): the header painter, the id as data, the
untrusted model text, no writes for an unchanged session, the truncation
order, Pane A's strip and its fits through syncTerminalGeometry.
- tile-grid-plan "as built", the wiki's Tile Grid page (logo and model rows,
Split's strips), and CLAUDE.md's tile grid and CLI registry paragraphs.

GET /api/sessions/:id/terminal?full=1 captured the whole tmux history
(capture-pane -S -<history limit>, 100,000 lines by default) and cut it to
`tail` only afterwards, all of it synchronous on the server's event loop.
A grid tile keeps TILE_SCROLLBACK lines plus its screen, so the rest was
captured to be thrown away, once per tile on every grid open, restore and
deploy reconnect. The route now takes an optional `lines=<n>` (an integer
of at least 1, clamped to the configured history limit) and passes it as
the capture's history bound (the existing historyLimitLines, so -S -<n>);
absent or malformed, the limit itself, so every existing caller gets the
same capture as before. Only full captures read it: the visible-frame path
(a shell tile's `tail=` load) reads no history and is untouched. The
capture still ends with its RELATIVE cursor move back to the caret, still
counts as a full capture (isFullCapture: the line-deleting transforms stay
off) and still reports captureCols/captureRows.
Grid tiles (boundedLoad) send lines=<scrollback + rows> on every full
capture of theirs: a TUI load and a shell history pull. The split's Pane B
asks for everything, as before.
Measured:
- A real haiku Claude pane on tileperf (about 3k lines of history):
bounded captures (lines=50, 500, 2000, 100000) against the unbounded
one, 4 PASS 0 FAIL: each a line-aligned suffix of it, ending in the
same relative cursor move (ESC[4A CR ESC[2C), same source
(mux-full-history) and capture geometry. Capture time there 72 ms both
ways, that history being shorter than the tile's bound. As a grid tile
(it sent lines=10047) its screen matched the pane row for row, 47 of
47 at the pane's own 77x47, caret on the composer.
- Six tiles restoring with Claude-style loads (full=1&tail=1MiB forced
on shells with about 19k lines of tmux history each, above the tile's
bound; n=3+3 interleaved, load 4.2 to 7.2): capture per tile med
219 ms [194 to 294] -> 155 ms [127 to 211]; server event-loop delay in
the capture window, max med 262 -> 201 ms; all painted 4.5 -> 3.6 s.
At checkpoint 1 a 30k-line history cost 713 ms per capture (event loop
blocked up to 765 ms each); the bound caps that at the tile's size.
Tests: the route passes lines= through, clamps it, ignores every malformed
form and leaves the visible-frame capture exactly as it was; a bounded
capture keeps its rows and ends in the cursor restore; grid tiles send it
on full captures and the split's Pane B does not. Mutation-checked six ways
(lines ignored, no clamp, a lenient parse, lines on the visible path, the
tile sending none, Pane B sending it). Documented in docs/api-reference.md
(/api/v1 is public).
Scope: PR 2 (the grid's loads; server route plus terminal-tile.js).

Settings (per device): Git status: max repositories (1-50, default 12) and git timeout (5-120 s, default 30, was a fixed 10). Both go to /git-status and /git-diff as maxRepos / timeout query parameters, clamped server-side (an empty value means the default). A repository whose git status fails stays in the list with the reason instead of being dropped silently, shows as '? N' in the indicator, and the truncation line now names the limit and the setting. The discovery cache is keyed by the limit.

- hooks-config: a probe the bulk cap refused gets ONE bounded re-probe past the
cap (probeBeforeTouching), and whatever is still unknown is skipped. The
per-spawn hook and statusLine helpers used to fall back to an unbounded
lstat/readFile there, which on a dead workspace never settled and could take
the last threadpool workers (and hang the boot hook sweep). New test: cap
engaged, stat/lstat/readFile hanging on two more paths; both helpers return.
- describeUnknownPath()/unknownPathReason(): POST /api/sessions, quick-start and
GET /api/cases/:name now say a folder was not checked (other mounts are still
not answering) instead of blaming a healthy folder at the stall ceiling.
errorCodes unchanged.
- #535 x #516: Create in a custom folder probes the parent through the bounded
probe before realpath/stat/lstat/readdir touch it; an unknown parent is 422
OPERATION_FAILED (UNREACHABLE) within the probe timeout. New test.
- Docs: MAX_STALLED default is 2 (follows UV_THREADPOOL_SIZE), CaseInfo
.unreachable covers a refused probe, the boot sweep skips an unanswering
workspace, a CLAUDE.md gotcha for bounded probes, verbs.md documents the 422
(plugin mirror synced), api-reference documents the custom-folder 422.
- Tests: the launcher case-lookup describe is no longer nested in the Grok
block, and the cap-below-ceiling test no longer depends on an inherited
UV_THREADPOOL_SIZE / CODEMAN_PATH_PROBE_MAX_STALLED.

- A cached list of repositories below a folder is re-checked against the
Docker case workspaces as they are now, so a repository linked as a Docker
workspace within the 30 s list cache is no longer inspected.
- A diff past runGit's 8 MB output bound is cut short from git's partial
output instead of failing with a 500.
- The browser test waits for its slow route handler on unroute
(unrouteAll behavior 'wait'), so a late route.continue() cannot fail the run.
- "Upstream is gone" now reads "Upstream not on remote", true for a branch
that was never pushed as well as one deleted on the remote; docs mirrored.
- The diff route checks the repository against the workspace's own cached
repository list (findWorkspaceRepo) and refreshes only that repository,
instead of a fresh status of every repository in the folder.
- CLAUDE.md: a Key Patterns entry for the git read surface and its rules.
- The enclosing repository is identified with one cached rev-parse before
any full status, so an unrelated repository above the workspace costs one
process and its failure no longer hides the repositories below.
- Wiki: the bottom-bar indicator moves out of the header-controls table.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Route test hygiene: each test works in its own mkdtemp folder, every
deletion goes through safeRmHomeTree, and the suite refuses to start
outside test/setup.ts's temp HOME, so a raw `npx vitest` can no longer
delete a real ~/projects or the live linked-cases registry.
- Path policy: the symlink-resolved target is also judged against the
resolved home, data dir and system roots (home reached through a link,
macOS /etc -> /private/etc); test expectations are realpath-safe.
- Refuse a target equal to or inside the caller's or the shared cases
directory, pointing at plain Create New (it would list twice, and
deleting the local copy removes files).
- The registry re-read comment no longer claims to prevent the
lost-update race; documented as narrowing it, like /api/cases/link.
- UI: the success toast names the folder the server created, the
"under ~/codeman-cases" blurb and name hint change while a custom
folder is ticked, a "/" parent previews and sends /<name> instead of
an empty path, and the new labels have zh-CN entries.

feat(ui): git status indicator in the bottom bar, with a panel of uncommitted and unpushed work
# Conflicts:
# config/test-suites.ts
# docs/api-reference.md
- never inspect a repository at or inside a Docker case workspace (walk-up, scan, diff route): git would run its clean filters on the host
- a branch whose upstream was deleted and pruned reports upstreamGone and falls back to commits on no remote, instead of green
- turning the setting off during a poll releases the in-flight flag
- log.showSignature=false; reword the docs: clean filters still run
- CLAUDE.md frontend load order, changeset names git-diff
- discovery reads a bounded, sorted directory listing; leading-dash paths allowed; diff 500 redacts credentials
- keyboard focus survives the poll re-render; panel stays on screen on narrow viewports; aria-expanded visible on light skins

Rows open an in-panel diff (staged, not staged, untracked as additions, deleted as removals) via GET /api/sessions/:id/git-diff, with Back and Open file. The route matches repo and path against the current status, runs git diff read-only (--no-ext-diff --no-textconv), and caps output at 400 KB.

Optional and per-device (showGitStatus, default off). GET /api/sessions/:id/git-status is
read-only and offline (no fetch, --no-optional-locks), skips remote and Docker sessions, caps its
lists, and single-flights concurrent polls. The toolbar indicator shows uncommitted files,
commits not pushed, or a check; clicking opens a draggable panel in the style of the Files window.
Which repositories: the enclosing one when there is one; otherwise every repository up to two
levels below the working directory (capped, skipping dot-folders and node_modules, never
following symlinks), each in a collapsible section, with the indicator summing them. A repository
that merely sits above the workspace and is the home folder or higher (a dotfiles repo) is
ignored. Git-supplied text is only ever written with textContent.
